You need to have some capital in order to support buying the expensive buildings, and you will most likely need to upgrade your electrical and water systems, because the industry areas consume a lot of resources.

I started building up the industry areas after reaching a population of about 30,000. There are large segments of all resources to the east of the original square. I turned on the industry area policies Improved Logistics and Advanced Automation, as they seemed to speed things along.Īny map should do, but the map I used for this was Snowy Coast. You only need 800 workers, but I typically ended up with about 2000 each. Just keep building as long as you can afford it and have a big enough population to support the number of workers needed, and with a bit of time, the industry will reach level 5. There is not really a need to put much thought into laying out the industry, but extractors must go on the actual resource, processors can be in other parts of the industry area, and warehouses can be anywhere, including outside of the industry area. Keep building multiples of the other buildings, especially any that are used for extracting resources. Ideally the industry should have highway access.

Create an industry area on a natural resource and build the main building matching that resource to start the industry. The current level progress can be seen on the info tab when inspecting an industry area. Industry areas get to level 5 by having 800+ workers and 135,000 production. Unlock progress does not carry over between cities, so make sure you have access to a good amount of natural resources before starting this achievement, especially oil and ore, since those run out after extracting. To unlock all factories, you must simply have at least one of each industry area all at level 5. The factories are unlocked by upgrading industry areas. You must build all of the unique factories in the same city.
